Before this commit, running `rspec --seed 22953 --format documentation spec/requests/admin/site_texts_controller_spec.rb:191 spec/lib/freedom_patches/translate_accelerator_spec.rb:109` will fail.
Setting `I18n.config.available_locales` is equivalent to hard coding the
locales for the entire process. It should not be set so that `I18n` will
fallback to `backend.locales`.
Adds a checkbox to filter untranslated text strings in the admin UI, behind a hidden and default `false` site setting `admin_allow_filter_untranslated_text`.
The most common thing that we do with fab! is:
fab!(:thing) { Fabricate(:thing) }
This commit adds a shorthand for this which is just simply:
fab!(:thing)
i.e. If you omit the block, then, by default, you'll get a `Fabricate`d object using the fabricator of the same name.
Recently we started giving admins a notice in the advice panel when their translations have become outdated due to changes in core. However, we didn't include any additional information.
This PR adds more information about the outdated translation inside the site text edit page, together with an option to dismiss the warning.
This is the first of a number of PRs aimed at helping admins manage their translation overrides. It simply adds a list of available interpolation keys below the input field when editing an override.
It also includes custom interpolation key.
* FIX: Use pluralized string
* REFACTOR: Fix misuse of pluralized string
* REFACTOR: Fix misuse of pluralized string
* DEV: Remove linting of `one` key in MessageFormat string, it doesn't work
* REFACTOR: Fix misuse of pluralized string
This also ensures that the URL works on subfolder and shows the site setting link only for admins instead of staff. The string is quite complicated, so the best option was to switch to MessageFormat.
* REFACTOR: Fix misuse of pluralized string
* FIX: Use pluralized string
This also ensures that the URL works on subfolder and shows the site setting link only for admins instead of staff.
* REFACTOR: Correctly pluralize reaction tooltips in chat
This also ensures that maximum 5 usernames are shown and fixes the number of "others" which was off by 1 if the current user reacted on a message.
* REFACTOR: Use translatable string as comma separator
* DEV: Add comment to translation to clarify the meaning of `%{identifier}`
* REFACTOR: Use translatable comma separator and use explicit interpolation keys
* REFACTOR: Don't interpolate lowercase channel status
* REFACTOR: Fix misuse of pluralized string
* REFACTOR: Don't interpolate channel status
* REFACTOR: Use %{count} interpolation key
* REFACTOR: Fix misuse of pluralized string
* REFACTOR: Correctly pluralize DM chat channel titles
It's very easy to forget to add `require 'rails_helper'` at the top of every core/plugin spec file, and omissions can cause some very confusing/sporadic errors.
By setting this flag in `.rspec`, we can remove the need for `require 'rails_helper'` entirely.
Discourse sent only translation overrides for the current language to the client instead of sending overrides from fallback locales as well. This especially impacted en_GB -> en since most overrides would be done in English instead of English (UK).
This also adds lots of tests for previously untested code.
There's a small caveat: The client currently doesn't handle fallback locales for MessageFormat strings. That is why overrides for those strings always have a higher priority than regular translations. So, as an example, the lookup order for MessageFormat strings in German is:
1. override for de
2. override for en
3. value from de
4. value from en
Admins can now edit translations in different languages without having to change their locale. We display a warning when there's a fallback language set.
Some endpoints are returning i18n keys instead of translated messages
and with these changes, the site_texts endpoint can help translating
those.
Pagination part is needed for better wildcard support. For example,
looking for 'js.notifications' would set 'has_more' to true, but return
only the first 50 messages with no way of fetching the remaining.
* Fix user title logic when badge name customized
* Fix an issue where a user's title was not considered a badge granted title when the user used a badge for their title and the badge name was customized. this affected the effectiveness of revoke_ungranted_titles! which only operates on badge_granted_titles.
* When a user's title is set now it is considered a badge_granted_title if the badge name OR the badge custom name from TranslationOverride is the same as the title
* When a user's badge is revoked we now also revoke their title if the user's title matches the badge name OR the badge custom name from TranslationOverride
* Add a user history log when the title is revoked to remove confusion about why titles are revoked
* Add granted_title_badge_id to user_profile, now when we set badge_granted_title on a user profile when updating a user's title based on a badge, we also remember which badge matched the title
* When badge name (or custom text) changes update titles of users in a background job
* When the name of a badge changes, or in the case of system badges when their custom translation text changes, then we need to update the title of all corresponding users who have a badge_granted_title and matching granted_title_badge_id. In the case of system badges we need to first get the proper badge ID based on the translation key e.g. badges.regular.name
* Add migration to backfill all granted_title_badge_ids for both normal badge name titles and titles using custom badge text.
When there is an overridden text in the database that belongs to
a pluralized key which doesn't exist in English anymore, the
Customize Texts admin page was unusable. This stops those keys from
ever being returned by a search.
* Introduced fab!, a helper that creates database state for a group
It's almost identical to let_it_be, except:
1. It creates a new object for each test by default,
2. You can disable it using PREFABRICATION=0
This change both speeds up specs (less strings to allocate) and helps catch
cases where methods in Discourse are mutating inputs.
Overall we will be migrating everything to use #frozen_string_literal: true
it will take a while, but this is the first and safest move in this direction
