fc311dbe3b FEATURE: An option to search more recent posts for very large sites. 
On very large forums searching posts can be slow, so this commit
introduces the ability to try and search only the most recent posts
first, and then going for a larger breadth search if there aren't
enough results.

Enable `search_prefer_recent_posts` and you can customize how many
recent posts to filter with `search_recent_posts_size`

aa56100660 Failover messages really aren't warnings 
"I'm going to do something entirely sane and reasonable" doesn't warrant a
warning-level log message.  It's perfectly fine and reasonable to just log
that sort of thing at info level.

df535c6346 FEATURE: refresh session cookie at most once an hour 
This feature ensures session cookie lifespan is extended
when user is online.

Also decreases session timeout from 90 to 60 days.
Ensures all users (including logged on ones) get expiring sessions.

46b34e3c62 FEATURE: remove user option for edit history public 
Users can no longer opt-in for "public" edit history
if site owner disables it.

This feature adds cost and complexity to post rendering since
user options need to be premeptively loaded for every user in the
stream. It is also confusing to explain to communities with private edit
history.

4161ee210a FEATURE: improved tag and category watching and tracking 
- present tags watched on the user prefs page
- automatically watch or unwatch old topics based on watch status

New watching and tracking logic takes care of handling old topics
(either with or without read state)

When you watch a topic you now watch historically

Also removes confusing warnings from user.

Before this change, HTML escaping was done before splitting text into
tokens, so token splitter saw literals like "&#39;", and split them as
it was normal text into parts into ["&", "#", "39", ";"]. This caused
diff to display character references, as those tokens used separate
HTML tags to display their insertion/deletion status.

256d7a00e9 Update sprockets. (#4167) 
* Update sass-rails.

* FIX: Tilt dependency has been removed from Ember::Handlebars::Template.

* Update `DiscourseIIFE` to new Sprockets API.

* `Rails.application.assets` returns `nil` in production.

* Move sprockets-rails out of the assets group.

* Pin ember-rails to 0.18.5 which works with Sprockets 3.x.

* Update sprockets to 3.6.0.

* Make `DiscourseSassCompiler` work with Sprockets 3.

* Use `Sass::Rails::SassImporterGlobbing` instead of haxxing our own.

* Moneky patch so that we don't add dependencies for our custom css.

* FIX: Missing class.

* Upgrade ember-handlebars-template.

* FIX: require path needs to share the same root as the folder's path.

* Bump discourse-qunit-rails.

* Update ember-template-compiler.js to 1.12.2.

3829c78526 PERF: shift most user options out of the user table 
As it stands we load up user records quite frequently on the topic pages,
this in turn pulls all the columns for the users being selected, just to
discard them after they are loaded

New structure keeps all options in a discrete table, this is better organised
and allows us to easily add more column without worrying about bloating the
user table

48cb386d58 Take filename to write to as optional parameter to export_category 
My discourse instance will be making regular automated public backups
of specific categories. It's preferred to be able to directly control
the path and filename of the output, rather than letting discourse
choose for me. This was already mostly supported, a filename parameter
just needed to be passed through the cli app.

Due to https://github.com/docker/docker/issues/9298 it is a huge pain
to remove ENV vars when composing images, allow us to simply treat "blank"
as a ENV var that is not being shadowed. In general we always supply a
value to ENV vars we are shadowing.

89add4a4a2 JsLocaleHelper should search for moment.js locale files 
moment.js uses a different naming conventions for locale files.
E.g. "zh-zn" instead of "zh_ZN" and "nb" instead of "nb_NO"

This change allows us to use the locale files without renaming which
makes future upgrades of moment.js a lot easier.

Messages are now in 3 buckets

- Inbox for all new messages
- Sent for all sent messages
- Archive for all messages you are done with

You can select messages from your Inbox or Sent and move them to your Archive,
you can move messages out of your Archive similarly

Similar concept applied to group messages, except that archiving and unarchiving
will apply to all group members

d0955e02d6 reused value of Time.now in a method 
`Time.now` was being used to fetch the current time, twice in the
same line. This commit stores the time value in a variable and
reuses it instead of generating/fetching it for the second time.

Additionally, a guard clause in the same method is substituted by
an `if/else/end` block for clarity.

3e50313fdc Prepare for separation of RSpec helper files 
Since rspec-rails 3, the default installation creates two helper files:
* `spec_helper.rb`
* `rails_helper.rb`

`spec_helper.rb` is intended as a way of running specs that do not
require Rails, whereas `rails_helper.rb` loads Rails (as Discourse's
current `spec_helper.rb` does).

In this commit, I've simply replaced all instances of `spec_helper` with
`rails_helper`, and renamed the original `spec_helper.rb`.

This brings the Discourse project closer to the standard usage of RSpec
in a Rails app.

At present, every spec relies on loading Rails, but there are likely
many that don't need to. In a future pull request, I hope to introduce a
separate, minimal `spec_helper.rb` which can be used in tests which
don't rely on Rails.

Since I18n has a DB backend now, I've introduced a helper we can use to
skip overrides in certain situations. Otherwise migration from empty

57fc1e5e0c FIX: Don't run a FULL ANALYZE on first migration. 
This seems to block databases unecessarily. We should only really be
vacuuming when there is a lot of deleted data to recover.

7a5a195dc0 FIX: properly support HTTPS CDN on HTTP site 
Previously we changed all CDN links to schemaless.

This is desirable for non HTTPS sites, to ease migration to HTTPS.
It is not desirable for secure sites.

Once site is secure or CDN is secure a rebake should be required
to move it back to non-secure.

The FallbackLocaleList object tells I18n::Backend::Fallbacks what order the
languages should be attempted in. Because of the translate_accelerator patch,
the SiteSetting.default_locale is *not* guaranteed to be fully loaded after the
server starts, so a call to ensure_loaded! is added after the locale is set for
the current user.

The declarations of config.i18n.fallbacks = true in the environment files were
actually garbage, because the I18n.default_locale was
SiteSetting.default_locale, so there was nothing to fall back to. *derp*

This patch sets I18n.defaultLocale in the Discourse.start() script block (it
was formerly always 'en') to SiteSetting.default_locale, and patches
translate() to perform fallback to defaultLocale followed by english.
Additionally, when enable_verbose_localization() is called, no fallbacks will
be performed.

It also memoizes the file loading operations in JsLocaleHelper and strips out
translations from the fallbacks that are also present in a prefered language,
to minimize file size.

acc05dd3a5 Fix LocalStore.remove_file to not raise if source doesn't exist 
FileUtils.move actually ends up raising an "unknown file type" error if the file doesn't exist instead of Errno::ENOENT.

It's possible to rescue this, but in the end it's easier to just ask move not to throw an error, since we're going to throw it away anyway.

Check Rails.version instead of ENV 
Like that we can have code that works on multiple Rails versions, and we
dont need to mix a new method on Kernel.
Also, this makes easier to have multiple versions.
For instance, before master was 4.2, which is not the case anymore, so
on the code we should check versions and not Environment variables

c7d367996a PERF: Concatenate scripts in development mode 
This improves my DOMContentLoaded from 9s+ to less than 4s.
Pinging @SamSaffron on this because this was previously controversial.

This implementation adds the `@sourceURL` directive so chrome correctly
identifies the source files.

c0881a6a7d single quote password in backup command 
This protects against characters like '&' in passwords. Sometimes you are assigned passwords by idiots or are and idiot that uses pronounceable passwords.  Anyways this small change protects against ruby's shell interpreter from background the pg_dump command before it has really started.

8a236c06e2 FEATURE: Adds transliteration of German umlauts in slugs 
- Moves the already existing transliteration rules into `transliterations.en.yml` (there's no need to translate this for every language). The same goes for the stringex configuration.
- Doesn't calculate the default slug for *zh_CN* and *ja* anymore. It hasn't been used anyway since stringex is used instead.
- Removes a wrong comment from the Russion transliteration file (I hate wrong comments)

5d16db1c48 Avoid gzip "-k" option for wider OS compatibility 
The "-k" option tells gzip to keep the original files intact and is an
alternative to `gzip -c file > file.gz`. It was implemented in 2013:

There are a few popular operating systems (ie, Red Hat 7, Debian Wheezy)
whose version of gzip does not have the "-k" option. Compiling assets
breaks on these operating systems. Using "-c" instead ensures that it
works even with older versions of gzip.

Old query used to scan the full topics table, on home page

Instead we now perform 2 queries, one for pinned and one for unpinned and merge
results in a 10x improvement on a 1 million topic DB
