This is a revert of 92793c5b73.
Following on from discussions after the previous commit, it became evident that it was only a small step towards solving the larger problem of finding site settings in a reliable fashion across multiple languages.
This is going to take more thought and discussion, and since the changes introduced in the previous commit are effectively non functional without additional work, I'm going to revert it for now.
* DEV: Add rake command to help detect dead settings
Some Site Settings may still exist but are no longer being used in the
core discourse code or in related plugins. This rake task will help
identify any unused (aka: dead) settings by using the `rg` command to
search for them.
You can execute the rake task by using this command:
`LOAD_PLUGINS=1 bin/rails "site_settings:find_dead"`
* Add env variable, apply feedback
This reduces chances of errors where consumers of strings mutate inputs
and reduces memory usage of the app.
Test suite passes now, but there may be some stuff left, so we will run
a few sites on a branch prior to merging
If the site_settings import has any errors or settings that are not found, this
will cause the task to exit with a non-zero exit code.
This is useful when using this task as part of automated configuration deployment,
where you may not want to continue with the process if a setting fails to
import.
